A new team of four Bulgarian military medics went to Mali to participate in the EU mission, Military Medical Academy announced.
This is the 20th time since 2013 that specialists from Bulgaria have been involved in the European Union’s training mission of security force of African States.
The new team will provide medical care to operations headquarters staff in Mali’s capital city Bamako.
The duration of the mission is 4 months, and the change of military medics is on a rotation basis.
Colonel Assoc. Prof. Dimo Dimov, PhD, Head of the Department of Disaster Medicine at MMA: Good luck and we expect you to return alive! I wish you to confirm the good performance of our team based now in Mali. Traditionally, Bulgarian doctors defend the homeland's name on missions abroad.
Bulgarian military doctors have been involved in various humanitarian and peacekeeping missions abroad for more than a century, and have always received an excellent assessment of their performance.
Besides the hot spots of the world, our military doctors are always ready to help the population and in peacetime - in the event of natural disasters, industrial accidents, terrorist acts, the MMA said.
